We have a number of exciting on-going projects with clients across both commercial & naval marine domains and are seeking to expand our existing Naval Architecture capability.
As a Naval Architect every day at Expleo will be out of the ordinary and will require you to be dynamic and responsive to changes in technology, innovation, and client requirements. You will have the opportunity to get involved in concept surface & sub-surface vessel design, complex engineering design & analysis tasks, the creation of new & innovative tools & processes, the delivery of engineering consultancy services, and the development of decarbonisation solutions & other emerging technologies across a wide range of global maritime programmes.
- Define & conduct specific engineering analysis and project management techniques and keep abreast of emerging technologies that could improve the company and/or client processes & outputs.
- Investigate & solve complex technical problems in concept, basic & detailed design phases.
- Develop & maintain written technical and administrative procedures, standards, processes, practices, guidelines, and standards.
- Interface directly with our customers and clients, representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems .
- Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
- Member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).

- An understanding of the role of a Naval Architect and design codes & standards throughout all stages of the equipment lifecycle.

- The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience (6 years for non-degree qualified) working in either the commercial or naval maritime domain
- Experienced in at least one of the following
key technical knowledge areas:
a. Hydrostatic, seakeeping & stability analysis.
b. Propulsion, resistance, and powering requirements.
c. Hydrodynamic & manoeuvring analysis.
d. Marine structure design & analysis.
e. Ship design; including hull form, superstructure, arrangement & outfitting
- Experience of using Naval Architecture design & analysis software packages (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MaxSurf, NAPA, Aveva, Paramarine, Orcaflex, Ansys Structural/Fluent, MatLab, MS Excel).
- Experience of working in small multi-discipline teams with an ability to communicate effectively.
- The post will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services.
