Malin Group is a leading maritime engineering and design company with 125 years of experience and expertise dedicated to creating innovative and optimum solutions for the industry. Our capabilities span engineering design, lifting operations, turnkey transportation services, and third-party warranty support amongst others.  The team are based in the iconic South Rotunda building in Glasgow and successfully manage and deliver projects globally.

The current vacancy is within Malin Abram - the business unit within the group dedicated to heavy lift engineering. As a discipline, this requires motivated individuals dedicated to solving unique and complex engineering challenges to support major industries around the globe.

Current projects provide engineering support for major defence, nuclear, oil and gas, and offshore renewables clients. Malin Abram engineers are regularly engaged in project execution in locations across Europe and the Middle East, relying on their strong technical and management skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams of subcontractors and effectively deliver projects for our clients. Projects typically require the coordination of multinational teams of personnel and major plant equipment, and applicants to this role should be able to demonstrate effective organisational and communication skills in both an office and industrial setting.

As a Naval Architect your key responsibilities in this role will be:

  • Delivering engineering solutions in areas such as:
    • Coaster/Barge transportation engineering,
    • Naval architecture studies, including stability analysis, mooring analysis, etc.
  • Project Engineering functions, including but not limit to engagement with external clients, suppliers, and subcontractors in the planning and execution of projects, and management of project resources.
  • Peer review of engineering deliverables in areas of competency
  • Providing technical advice to the commercial team to ensure accurate costing of bids and enquiries
  • Performance in line with company QAHSE requirements

To be considered for this role you should be/have:

  • Masters or Bachelors level degree in Naval Architecture or related engineering discipline,
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in the maritime engineering industry, with specific experience in heavylift engineering or marine transportation
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom
  • Full, clean, UK drivers licence
  • Ability to gain Baseline Personnel Security Standard

As it is likely that the role will involve regular domestic and international travel you should have the ability to travel freely and not be limited by specific UK Visa Restrictions.
