Position - Neurology Consultant

Location - Wollongong Hospital

Global Medics has partner with the Illawara Shoalhaven Local Health Distric to fill an exciting position within the Neurology department. The role is based in Wollongong, NSW.

Wollongong is a coastal city in Australia, south of Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive. Surfing beaches and rock pools line the coastline. Trails encircle the forests and rocky cliffs of Mt. Keira in the Illawarra Mountain range, which frames the city. To the north, hang gliders launch from Bald Hill. South lie the Buddhist temple of Nan Tien and Lake Illawarra, a large lagoon with boating and fishing facilities.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Neurologist will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients in the Neurology Service within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

The Neurologist is responsible for the provision of specialist neurology services to emergency patients, inpatients, and outpatients at the relevant Hospital.

The Neurologist will ensure provision of high-quality neurology services to all patients within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

The Neurologist will proactively:

  • Support the development of Neurology services.
  • Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice.
  • Support and develop Neurology research within the department.

Selection Criteria

  1. Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Neurology and/or equivalent specialist recognition or those eligible for Fellowship (FRACP).
