Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire an Office Associate for the Chester Mental Health Center located in Chester, Illinois to perform a variety of complex specialized keyboarding and clerical functions for the Worker’s Compensation Coordinator and other facility departments. Gathers documents pertaining to service-connected injuries for review by the Worker’s Compensation Coordinator. Inputs all inventoried items from requisitions, items received as recorded on receiving reports and cost adjustments for received items. Utilizes a personal computer or typewriter to keyboard/type general correspondence, reports, etc. Serves as back-up to the various business office departments. Sorts all incoming facility mail.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Performs a variety of complex specialized keyboarding and clerical functions for the Worker’s Compensation Coordinator and for the facility.

  2. Gathers documents pertaining to service-connected injuries for review by the Worker’s Compensation Coordinator.

  3. Inputs all inventoried items from requisitions.

  4. Utilizes a personal computer or typewriter to keyboard/type general correspondence, reports, etc.

  5. Sorts all incoming facility mail.

  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
  2. Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm.
Conditions of Employment
  1. Requires ability to utilize commonly used manual and automated office equipment.
  2. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  3. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
