Full Job Description

The role

This is a crucial and varied role supporting all functions of the recently-formed charity; from fundraising to content to partnership-building, alongside some administrative support duties for the Executive Director. Your time will be split approximately 2 days per week assisting the content team (data and evaluation, improving and maintaining the Learning Hub , research) and an additional 2 days per week supporting the fundraising and partnership leads with logistics, distribution and contact management. Approximately 1 day per week, split into 1-2 hours each day, will be spent supporting the Executive Director with administrative tasks including research, email, diary and financial management.

We’re looking for someone who will increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures and maintain constant communication with the team to ensure smooth operations of the charity.

This role will be required 3 days in the FT offices in St Paul’s, and 2 days working from home.

The salary range for this role is between £30k-35k dependent on experience.

The organisation

The FT Financial Literacy and Inclusion Campaign (FLIC), the fast-expanding financial literacy charity founded by the Financial Times, promotes financial literacy where it is needed most to have a significant, sustainable societal impact. The charity has been working at the grassroots with young people in schools, gig economy workers and online learning environments across the UK, as well as on a policy level by pursuing lobbying campaigns, with the mission of making a dent in the global scandal of financial illiteracy.

About FT FLIC’s activities

It’s our aim to democratise financial education by providing free and engaging content to those who need it most: young people, women, and disenfranchised groups.

FT FLIC has developed a comprehensive spiral financial literacy curriculum for secondary schools catering for a range of learning styles and abilities, with input from FT journalists, teachers and beneficiaries. The content includes discussion, reflection and dynamic videos co-created with selected influencers. FT FLIC has also built a programme for adult learners from disenfranchised communities offering bespoke money management tools to help address modern ways of working. We are proud of how this project addresses new realities of working, moving away from ‘one man, one salary' and helping adults manage variable incomes and plan for lean periods.

Key responsibilities

Below is a non-exhaustive list of more specific responsibilities:

  • Support the Strategic Partnerships Manager with distribution of FT FLIC’s new whole school curriculum. This may involve research and communication with partner organisations- e.g. school marketing firms, other charities, local authorities.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a comprehensive contact database for the charity, including policy-makers, charities, donors, supporters, volunteers, schools, youth and community groups and football foundations.
  • Support the Strategic Partnerships Manager and content team with successful evaluation of FT FLIC educational programmes. This includes collation of data from schools' programme and adult learning programme in line with donor or funder requirements.
  • Support the Social media and video lead with research into reach and engagement of our video and socials output.
  • Support the Content manager and Head of content with the maintenance, tagging and updating of content on FLIC’s Learning Hub.
  • Compile team entries and contribute to the charity’s annual impact report.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain staff records eg. annual leave and DBS.
  • Oversee programme materials and inventory.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the wider FT FLIC team and external partners to ensure audiences, volunteers, and participants are engaged appropriately through updates, newsletters, workshops or events.
  • Bookkeeping and invoice management for the team.

Skills and experience

  • Proven success in administrative, logistics or operations roles
  • Solid IT skills and an understanding of CRM software
  • Basic Wordpress maintenance skills
  • Experience with receiving, filing and recording invoices and bills
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written skills
  • Proactive, organised, detail oriented and methodical
  • An ability to initiate, maintain and develop processes with team members and wider FT colleagues

Desirable

  • Experience in the education or charity sector
  • Knowledge of the financial literacy education landscape
  • An understanding of personal finance and current money issues, particularly as they pertain to young people, women and marginalised communities
  • An affinity for social media and an understanding of SEO

Benefits

  • Join a future-focused, high-achieving small, but growing team
  • Be part of a unique and impactful charity with opportunity for growth
  • Gain fantastic experience working with well-known journalists and the FT brand
  • Enjoy a double-matched pension contribution of up to 6% (the charity contributes 12%)
  • Work in a vibrant, modern office in London.

To ensure pay fairness, the successful candidate will be offered a salary within the estimated salary range based on a number of considerations including but not limited to: skill set; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organisational needs.
