Full Job Description

As an Operations Manager, you will be part of the Contract Leadership Team responsible for the safe delivery of a range of highway services.

In this role, you will assist the Business Director in the operational delivery of maintenance, construction, and improvement projects. You will be responsible for the commercial performance of the program, ensuring compliance with the contract and the company's corporate policies. As a member of the contract leadership team, you will have direct responsibility for safety, performance, and client relationships. You will also be responsible for leading key client relationships and ensuring that client and project objectives are translated into profitable projects delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead a team to oversee the safe delivery of a program of highway services and construction projects.
- Provide day-to-day contact with client teams to develop services and ensure contract performance requirements are met.
- Take P&L responsibility and accurately forecast program and financial outcomes.
- Develop and implement a procurement strategy for the delivery of projects.
- Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety, quality, and environmental policies.
- Manage and prioritize your workload.

Job Requirements:
- Strong track record in leading the delivery of highway related services and construction projects.
- Technical knowledge of NEC contracts.
- SMSTS, IOSHH, or similar certifications.
- Familiarity with safety, company procedures, legislation, and practices.
- Quality management (ISO 9001) and environmental management expertise.
- Commercial knowledge and understanding.
- Competent and recognized leader.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Preferred relevant qualification (degree/HNC) or experience delivering a similar role.

- Excellent people and client management skills with P&L responsibility.
- Strong people skills and experience in delivering complex projects through different stakeholders.
- Commercial knowledge and experience in negotiating with suppliers.
- High emotional and social intelligence.
- Ability to deliver projects and manage budgets effectively.
- Understanding of financial and contract payment mechanisms.
- Computer literacy with basic MS packages.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Flexibility in working hours and job role.
