The role:

Taking responsibility for the management of, and successful execution of projects that span across multiple business units and areas. Project Managers with lead one or more medium sized projects with low to moderate complexity. Manages costs, schedules and quality by overseeing project deliverables. Ensures schedule and budget are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Building and managing project teams; monitoring the deployment of individuals to ensure that they are contributing effectively from an outcome-based perspective

  • Provide strong leadership to the project team and actively representing the team and developing excellent working relationships across the business

  • Ensuring that comprehensive project, quality, and risk plans are prepared and proactively managed, managing and communicating project interdependencies clearly

  • Performs ongoing review of project status; identifies possible project risks. Recommends and implements risk mitigation solutions as approved and as appropriate.

  • Undertake lessons learned reviews to promote continuous improvement in all project practices

  • Lead and mange each project in line with the governance strategy that has been outlined by the Imagine Programme leadership

  • Interface with team members and stakeholders to manage changes to the project which may involve changes to technical requirements, business requirements and schedule. Ensure changes are tracked (e.g. via change request or requirements management)

  • Manages client, company and project team expectations for agreed upon project performance by obtaining, providing and monitoring project metrics.

  • Ensures compliance with all DXC cost monitoring tools by recording all project time and ensuring associated costs are valued and recovered accurately.

  • Support fellow members of the team whether this be fellow project managers while off on leave or mentoring and coaching more junior members of the team as the build their experience and take on more responsibility.

  • Provide regular updates on projects into the Project Imagine cadence and communication plan.

Requirements:

  • A technical background coupled with an operational background is essential.

  • Focus on delivery

  • Be comfortable working into senior managers and translating detail up to this level in summary.

  •   Be prepared to be unpopular and push people for detail / answers that they may not want to give / or be prepared to help with.

  • Prepared to travel, when required and at short notice.

  • It would be an advantage for the person to have experience / knowledge of the accounts / clients we support and the systems they use - it would be huge learning curve otherwise.

  • Several experience in project management or in like roles/businesses

  • Experience in transformation projects

  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of key operational policies, processes and methodologies applicable to project management.

  • Understands project management methods.
