Full Job Description

As an Assistant Lawyer, you will take on the responsibility of managing a full caseload of Personal Injury (PI) litigation files, closely supervised by experienced professionals. In addition to PI work, you will also provide valuable support in conveyancing and criminal matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a full caseload of Personal Injury litigation files under supervision while also assisting with conveyancing and criminal matters.

  • Conducting and managing all aspects of your caseload, demonstrating sound judgment and decision-making skills, subject to appropriate supervision.

  • Collaborating with experienced professionals who will provide guidance on complex decisions, ensuring the highest quality of legal services.

  • Applying a solid theoretical knowledge of relevant legal areas and the ability to handle cases from inception to resolution.

  • Playing an essential role within the team, contributing to the achievement of the Unit's objectives, even though the job does not carry direct supervisory responsibilities.

  • Communicating clearly and effectively, a crucial skill for success in this role.

Person Specification

  • You should have familiarity with PI law and relevant regulations.

  • You need to understand evidence rules, the litigation process, and funding related to PI cases.

  • Efficiency is key, as you'll be expected to work swiftly, accurately, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, including drafting abilities.

  • Proficiency in file management, ensuring organised and efficient case handling, is required.

  • You should be competent in using Microsoft Outlook and Word for legal documentation.
