Full Job Description

The Opportunity: 

You will work with the Marketing and Student Recruitment team to create informative, engaging and relevant content about the School and its degree programmes. You will also contribute to develop pre-arrival communication and material for incoming students and participate in the planning and preparation of the School of Physics and Astronomy Welcome Week. You will use digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Discord.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed term for 8 weeks, and it is based in the James Clerk Maxwell Building, on the King’s Buildings Campus. There may be the possibility for the postholder to work ‘from home’ for part of the internship.

Employ.ed on Campus is run by the Careers Service in collaboration with University departments and Schools. It offers exclusive summer internships at the University over the summer for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK. You cannot take part if you are a visiting student, or you have already taken part in the programme before. Expected commencement date: June 3rd 2024

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work on your own initiative and function as part of a team 
  • Excellent time management skills, and experience in planning and managing projects 
  • Good knowledge of social media, in particular Discord, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Creativity and attention to detail
