About the Roles

 

We have an opportunity for a Planning Officer to join our vibrant and busy Development Management Service. You will be responsible for progressing and determining a wide variety of planning applications, appeals and pre application enquiries.

 

Croydon is a varied Borough and officers have the opportunity to we deal with a whole spectrum of planning applications from green belt proposals to large mixed use urban developments.  On a day to day basis you will be responsible for managing your own case load of planning applications, pre applications and appeals. This includes validating planning applications, undertaking site visits, working in mutli-disciplinary teams to assess proposals, negotiating with developers, responding to queries from members of the public and making recommendations on Planning applications. A successful candidate will have be a talented, enthusiastic, motivated and knowledgeable individual who demonstrates a good understanding of planning policy and development management legislation, have good written and verbal communication skills and to be able to work to strict deadlines.

 

We would welcome applications from across our grade from those just starting out in their career, newly qualified planners and those looking to expand on their experience.

 

We run regular training and development sessions on a wide range of planning and development matters, bringing in external speakers as well as in house experts and we encourage staff to take part in the organisation and topic selection.
