Role: Power Systems Consultant

Levels: Associate / Technical / Senior (3x roles)

Location: Birmingham Area

Salary: Highly Competitive Remuneration Package

Job Type: Permanent Staff

A reputable blue-chip Power Technology Business which provides complete Power System Solutions, Equipment & Services to various industrial sectors. The organisation is highly esteemed, renown for driving innovation within the fields of Power Transmission, Distribution & Renewables, working on large-scale Capex projects with TSO’s and other Energy market participants to provide reliable and complete power solutions to global energy markets, with the capability & expertise to provide the full suite-of-services from initial conception to system commissioning & project after care.


The organisation is seeking multiple Power Systems Consultants to join the business at present, to be responsible for developing and advising on projects in the field of transmission, distribution, and generation, supporting all components of work from technical specifications, feasibility, regulatory & commercial elements.

Responsibilities of a Power Systems Consultant include:

  • Management of Power projects & processes, conducting complex problem solving both with supervision and independently.
  • Build an internal & external network, identifying opportunities for new and repeat business.
  • Use various sales & negotiation techniques to ensure successful outcomes on transactions, proposals, and contracts.
  • Contribute towards R+D projects including scope of budget, project management, communications with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Follow up on new products and service provisions, including client support and contract management activities.
  • Conduct analysis through various assessment techniques e.g. Stability, Harmonic, Power/Short Load testing, Load Flow Studies.


Desirable Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree / MSc. qualified in Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering principle.
  • Possess a solid understanding of power systems, analytical techniques and bespoke software packages e.g. DIgSILENT, PSS/E, PSCAD.
  • Proven understanding of technical requirements within Power System Engineering, including equipment applications / site assessments / grid stabilisation / network optimisation.
  • Happy to travel to attend customer meetings.
