The Leonardo Cyber Security Division is looking to recruit a Principal Cloud Systems Engineers to join its engineering team with responsibility for the design / build / support of a variety of cyber security and ICT products and solutions within defence, government or public sector organisations.

What you’ll do as a Principal Cloud Engineer:

You will lead a small specialised engineering team that is responsible for multiple active projects and bids ranging from cyber security research tasks, through to digital platform development and multi-faceted security monitoring and incident response solutions, and covering internal product development and large scale system integration programmes.

Projects will cover the full systems engineering lifecycle from Concept Exploration through to In-Service Support providing the opportunity to develop your experience in requirements management, system architecture and design, subsystem design and development, system integration, test and acceptance and specialist technical support.

As a Principal Cloud Systems Engineer, you will typically lead and work in the platform team in support of larger project teams on the design, development / testing and support of platform team including but not limited to, Information Management Systems, Command and Control systems, Security Monitoring of IT, IoT and CNI systems and services.

These roles will have the ability to take ownership / implement the engineering delivery of one or more work packages, including the planning, estimation, execution and progress reporting of own workload and that of other team members.

What we need from you:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience within a systems engineering or IT solution delivery role, and preferably working in a secure environment. You will need to possess a strong all round technical ability with an excellent working knowledge of various platform capability area across Cloud / Hybrid and on premise network and systems infrastructure technologies. An awareness of cyber security capabilities is advantageous.

You will need to have a good working knowledge of building, implementing and maintaining systems with complex architectures on client site, with on-going proactive operational support, working closely with key stakeholders and end users. Working within a specialist skilled engineering team providing 1st to 3rd line support to the client.

You really must have:

  • Demonstrable experience in support of 1 of the leading Cloud technologies
  • Core Linux/Windows and network infrastructure engineering experience, including cloud networks, storage and database systems
  • Good knowledge of some PaaS technologies
  • Building Git and CI/CD based release pipelines
  • Good document writing skills to support system documentation and report writing ability to manage work load for themselves and associated teams in pressurised environments to Time, Quality and Standards
  • The ability to travel in main land UK when requested by Business Unit Lead
  • Ability to share knowledge and mentor junior members of the team if required

AWS:

  • Noticeable experience focussed on AWS engineering, including proven live production environment projects
  • Strong infrastructure as code (CloudFormation) and scripting based cloud automation experience
  • Experience organisational transformation from traditional services to AWS.
  • Good understanding of a majority of the following AWS technologies: Core IaaS –compute, storage, networking, hybrid
  • Exposure to AWS SaaS offerings
  • Identity, authentication & security (IAM, Active Directory, ADFS, network security, RBAC and related technologies)
  •  Any AWS qualifications – DesiredAzure:
  • Deployment and implementation experience of enterprise Microsoft solutions.
  • Proven track record of specialising in Microsoft Azure technologies and, ideally, working for an IT services or consulting organisation.
  • Experience organisational transformation from traditional services to Azure.
  • Good understanding of a majority of the following Azure technologies: Core IaaS -compute, storage, networking, hybrid
  • Exposure to Azure SaaS offerings
  • Identity, authentication & security (Active Directory, ADFS, network security, RBAC and related technologies)
  • Any Microsoft Azure qualifications – Desired
