About the role

We are seeking an experienced computational biologist to play a leading role in the development of our computational platform within the Discovery Biology team. This team is responsible for integrating hepatocyte-centric data sources, developing proprietary network building and analysis algorithms and finding and validating drug targets using these resources.


The position is based in London, UK.

The working hours for this role are 35hours per week, Monday to Friday, with attendance at the company premises in London on four days per week (Monday to Thursday), with a fifth day (Friday) to be worked from home (or the office if you prefer).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform computational biology projects to support drug discovery efforts
  • Play a leading role in the further development and validation of our proprietary knowledge graph and target identification tools
  • Support, where appropriate, colleagues in Informatics and biology on infrastructure and/or preclinical projects
  • Follow requirements/standards for computational projects, including the use of GitLab, Agile project management, FAIRification of data and the generation of high quality, reusable code in ETX preferred languages
  • Interaction and knowledge sharing with colleagues in biology and informatics, including regular updates at Sprint meetings

Previous skills & experience

  • Educated to PhD level (or equivalent experience) in a biological (systems biology, bioinformatics) or mathematical (biostatistics, biophysics, data science) discipline
  • At least 4 years experience designing, implementing and delivering computational biology analyses
  • Demonstrated experience building libraries using Python and/or R and deploying them in production
  • Demonstrated experience conducting rigorous analysis of biological data
  • Experience working in one or more of the following areas would be a distinct advantage: network biology, multi-omics data integration, deep learning, knowledge graphs and representational learning techniques, mathematical optimisation
  • Experience working in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry would be a distinct advantage
