Full Job Description

Your role as a Principal Process Engineer in Johnson Matthey your role may involve early stage proposals design, preparing process design packages through to supporting our customers in starting up and optimising their plants, as well as process improvement and R&D for the next generation of technologies. You will work within our passionate expert team to solve some of the biggest challenges facing the world today, and have the opportunity to turn your ideas into pioneering global projects .

Your responsibilities:
  • Develop new process technology working closely with the Engineering teams and R&D group.

  • Lead major engineering programmes of work for internal and external stakeholders, setting scopes, schedules, standards, programme objectives and requirements.

  • Provide the technical interface with our key clients, evaluating the impact of Johnson Matthey solutions on customers’ business.

  • Lead the resolution of technical issues within the technology for complex problems.

  • Demonstrate innovation and creatively, inside and outside of individual projects.  Takes action to solve risk issues and recommend complex changes to senior management.

  • Identify and propose the use of new technologies to gain competitive advantage.

  • Provides support to ensure technical know-how in the department are sufficient to meet business needs.

Requirements for the role:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience – Chartered Status is preferred

  • Substantial relevant experience at Principal Process Engineer level

  • Proven process engineering design experience with technical safety and environmental aspects

  • Proficient in use of Engineering Software, eg Hysys, ProII, Aspen+

  • A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative

  • Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives
