Full Job Description

We're recruiting a Principal Software Engineer for our client in Central London.

The role:-

You'll be part of a heavily backed start-up developing new cloud services for the European market. As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll be a key player in their engineering team, bringing a wealth of experience in backend development and a proven track record of technical leadership. This role is designed for a visionary engineer who can set the technical agenda, drive innovation, and coach other developers to excel in their craft.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend services using Go, Rust, and other relevant technologies.
• Spearhead the adoption of cutting-edge technologies like Kubernetes, Knative, Rook, Cassandra, and Spark to enhance our product offerings and infrastructure.
• Set the technical direction for the team, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals and industry best practices.
• Mentor and coach other developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimising performance, scalability, and reliability of our systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on Backend engineering and Distributed systems.
• Expertise in one of the following programming languages - Go, Rust, C, C++
• Demonstrated ability to set technical vision and direction for development teams.
• Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and coaching developers.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities, focusing on delivering efficient and scalable solutions.
• Proven track record of successful project delivery and technical innovation.
• Excellent communication skills in English
