The Role
As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Helping ensure that the software produced by our sub-contracted suppliers is developed and integrated to meet the overall requirements of the system.

Day-to-day, you'll provide software expertise to the programme, working within our multi-discipline team and engaging with technical experts within the customer, supplier and Babcock teams. You will be working on a fast-paced project, there are likely to be frequently changing priorities and you will need to be able to prioritise your work to respond to immerging issues at short notice:

  • Leading Working Groups and ensuring that appropriate actions are captured and implemented.
  • Ensuring that there is effective communication between all parties.
  • Monitoring and auditing the activities undertaken by our suppliers.
  • Ensuring that all technical documentation is reviewed and approved prior to delivery.
  • Providing software expertise to support the wider multi-discipline team (who provide Security, Safety, Human Factors, ILS, Risk expertise).

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel to North Bristol, on a fortnightly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential Experience of the Principal Software Management Engineer

  • Successful delivery of software programmes through collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • Working throughout the s/w delivery lifecycle with a focus on Integration, Test Evaluation and Acceptance.
  • Effective stakeholder management of customers, suppliers and wider teams on complex delivery projects.
  • Application and assurance of systems and software processes and standards.
  • Maritime EW domain experience is desirable but, not essential.

Qualifications for the Principal Software Management Engineer
