Post title - Production Coordinator

Press Division - Production

Reporting to the Production Manager

Post Definition/Purpose

The post holder is responsible for working to strict safety and quality requirements to achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity to meet customer requirements. You will be supervising in a busy and demanding automotive press environment producing body in white car components for various customers of the business. You will be responsible for delivering, and where possible, exceeding the key performance indicators within the business unit.

Key Responsibilities

 To manage the overall press production plan, achieving the cost and quality standards required.

 To organise and run downtime meetings.

 To organise and run weekly shift meetings.  To monitor consumable usage.  To manage press stock counts.

 To move labour to support production plan.

 To look at process improvements.

 To ensure rework, overtime and scrap is minimal.

 Input production data on to PC at relevant times.

 Liaise with other departments over production issues.

 Report to maintenance or Toolroom regarding any ongoing press issues.

 Coordinate Quality, H&S, Environmental, Kaizen and 5s activities within press.

 Take an active role in New Model Introduction into press.

 Manage and train press team leaders.

 Organise training and developing new and existing employees and supervising overtime in the week and at weekends.

 Support the production manager with achieving the set production plan by organising, prioritizing, manning levels, planning job requirements for team members using customer call off/schedule.

 To complete paperwork such as time and attendance return to work forms, end of shift handover reports, line efficiency sheets and time sheets.

 Assist production associates resolve machinery problems and liaise with the maintenance team to ensure efficient running of cells.

 Set and monitor daily shift targets for cells and communicate to shift coordinators any shortfalls or difficulties in achieving output.

 To ensure quality defects are resolved, contained and reported.

 Follow and communicate company procedures and project a positive image of the company to new and existing employees.

 Ensure all staff are complying with the company health & safety standards and keep an up to date fire register.

 Communicate both written and verbal instructions to appropriate members of staff, summarising key points if necessary.

 Implementing 5C system  Cover Production Manager when required.

 Any reasonable task as given by production manager or coordinator.

Skills & Abilities

 Previous busy factory/manufacturing experience is desirable.

 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role within manufacturing ideally press work or metals.

 Knowledge and experience of implementing modern production techniques including kaizen, TPM, etc.

 Man management experience including man power planning, disciplinary, absence, performance monitoring and holiday planning.

 Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.

 Previous experience of managing a team within a manufacturing, target focused environment.

 Willingness to multi-skill and learn products and processes.

 Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and complete required production paper-work.

 Must be able to work shifts if needed.

 Must be flexible regarding working overtime.

 Proven excellent time and attendance record.

 Experience of handling personnel issues.

 This is a demanding job which includes safe manual handling of steel components

Qualifications & Experience

 Experience of working to deadlines and targets.

 Previous experience in Automotive Manufacturing would be advantageous.

 Good written and verbal communication skills.

 Ability to work on own initiative to achieve tight deadlines

 Demonstrate a positive attitude and motivation to deliver.

 Proven team building skills.

 Full training given

Package

 25 days holiday (mostly fixed with plant shut downs) + 8 Bank holidays

 37.5 hour week Monday to Friday.
