Job Introduction

BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit (NHU) is the leading producer of wildlife programming, creating award-winning content with a world class reputation. Our output ranges from ambitious landmarks for BBC One and iPlayer (Green Planet, Dynasties, and Planet Earth III) to children’s programming (Deadly Dinosaurs and Andy’s Adventures), as well as ground-breaking adventure, formatted, presenter led, feature docs and event programming such as Endangered for Discovery Channel, Prehistoric Planet for Apple TV+ and live programming such as the BAFTA winning Springwatch for the BBC.
 

We are looking for a Production Management Assistant to join the team working on an ambitious and diverse new brand, HOME for National Geographic and Disney+. 

You will be a key team player reporting to the Junior Production Manager and Line Producer, working within the HOME core team providing day-to-day organisational, logistical and admin support to a large production team, in a busy and fast-moving environment. 

We’re looking for a candidate who possesses excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and who is a great multi-tasker.

We want to hear from a diverse range of people with established experience at Production Management Assistant or Production Secretary level within the industry.
 

Main Responsibilities
  • You will report to the Junior Production Manager+ and Line Producer to provide logistical and financial support to the production team. 
  • Be responsible for booking and organising the medical bags and the management and preparation of all the ‘on-location’ comms for all HOME shoots.
  • Supporting on logistical aspects of UK and foreign shoots.
  • Overseeing and supporting the Line Producer and Junior Production Manager on the sustainability reports.
Are you the right candidate?
  • You will have experience working as a Production Management Assistant/Production Secretary within broadcast content for a least a year. 
  • Experience of providing administrative support in a busy production environment along with the ability to work in pressurised and challenging situations.
  • You will demonstrate strong organisational skills and will be able to manage conflicting demands to meet deadlines.
  • You will be a good communicator and hold good attention to detail when working at pace.
  • Experience in assisting with or of setting up shoots including, logistics, call sheets, negotiating with external suppliers, using systems to book crew, make payments and raising contracts. 
  • Demonstrates business and finance skills - able to understand and work with excel and PMI budgeting formats.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Able to manage interpersonal relationships effectively and work collaboratively within a diverse team.

Location: Bristol

Salary: £24,520 - £28,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract Type: 6 month Fixed Term / Attachment 

Start date: April 2024
