Job Title: Project Lead - Neptune

Working Pattern: 37 Hours days

Working location: Derby

Why Rolls-Royce?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Lead to join the Neptune team, responsible for the regeneration of a key facility that supports the Royal Navy and the UK defence strategy.

Rolls-Royce Submarines has entered a once in a generation period of substantial growth and is looking for a talented project professional to lead in an established, long term (10+ year) UK Nuclear infrastructure programme with Neptune being the first project in the journey.

The role on offer will have an accountability in the delivery of a major nuclear infrastructure project with a value in excess of £70M. Responsibilities will extend to safety, quality, cost, and time as part of a wider programme of equally high complexity and value (>£1bn).

The successful candidate will report directly to the Project Manager responsible for the delivery of the respective project.  

What you will be doing:

  • Accountable for the successful delivery to cost, specification and time for a defined package of work.          
  • Establish, develop, and maintain the documentation necessary to deliver the package of work. 
  • Act as the focal point for all aspects related to the packages of work.                         
  • Provide information necessary to make management decisions to the key stakeholders/customer.
  • Ensure the creation and management of an integrated set of plans / schedules.            
  • Organize and chair schedule review meetings and report areas where executive decisions need to be made.                           
  • Ensure the implementation of company management processes is effective and efficient.          
  • Develop / implement Project Management best practice in line with company management processes.                                     
  • Provision of leadership to others regarding the Project Management processes and the operation of the project management systems, tools, and methods.
  • When necessary, deputise for Line Manager and represent the department/business, covering both internal/external reviews or meetings.

  • Equivalent industry experience & Degree level qualification preferable.                                    
  • Attained APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent; or can demonstrate equivalent PM knowledge.                          
  • Associate member of Association of Project Management (APM), working towards full MAPM.   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience of SAP and P6 preferable.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
