Job Title: Principal Project Manager

Directorate: Environment & Regeneration

Section: Architectural Design and Project Management

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week

Location of post: The Quays SA11 2GG (Hybrid)

Your role

A Principal Project Manager in Neath Port Talbot Council will:

•Support the Architectural Design and Project Management section for the whole lifecycle delivery of new build, refurbishment and extensions of Council Properties and Facilities and in the delivery of major capital projects.

•Evaluate, appoint, and manage teams of external consultants, contractors, officers and specialists involved in the projects.

•Lead managerial and operational responsibilities for multi-disciplinary teams whilst following statutory processes (including Planning, Building Control, SAB, Health & Safety, financial regulations etc.).

•Advise on capital programme projects particularly in dealing with complex, contentious, and contractual issues including compensation events/claims.

A Principal Project Manager will have:

•Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.

•Either full membership or working towards full membership of either Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Association of Project Manager Professional (APM) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

•NEC3 Contract Administration experience at Project Management level on a range of numerous and complex projects.

•Experience of building relationships and influencing a range of internal and external stakeholders with the ability to manage competing priorities and business objectives.

•Experience of managing a multidisciplinary team at a senior level.

•Extensive Knowledge of contract administration including dealing with contractual disputes.

•Good knowledge of Strategic procurement concepts, financial risks associated with indirect supply chain.

•Preparation and ability to present high level reports to internal and external stakeholders
