This is a re-advertisement. Previous Applicants Need Not Apply. An exciting opportunity awaits an enthusiastic Registered Nurse, Senior, with the Portsmouth Health Department. We seek a consummate professional to serve as the subject-matter expert for the immunization program. Incumbent networks independently and collaborates with both internal and external community stakeholders to accomplish the ultimate goal of increasing vaccination rates and improving the overall health of the Portsmouth Community. The primary service of the Immunization Action Planner ( IAP ) Nurse includes immunizing: infant, child, and adult clients; assessing and administering vaccines for foreign travel as well as ensuring Immunization Program compliance with local and state guidelines. The selected candidate will be autonomous in developing/presenting educational updates on the changes in ACIP and CDC immunization recommendations, maintaining vaccine inventory, and analyzing immunization data for the district. Additionally, the Public Health Nurse Senior will provide assistance in other public health clinical programs (i.e. Family Planning, STDs, Ryan White, etc.) and is expected to respond to public health emergencies. Minimum Qualifications
The selected candidate will have a current, unexpired Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license and /or with Compact Designation (Multi-State Privileges.). Current CPR certification. Candidate should have knowledge and experience with adult and childhood vaccination schedules. Must be proficient with the administration of childhood and adult vaccinations, including the ability to review immunization shot records for accuracy. The candidate should be proficient in obtaining a comprehensive health history, identifying potential problems and methodically establishing care plans. Must have effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to handle multiple program task, and experience delegating responsibilities to ancillary staff. Must provide own transportation.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer Bachelors of Science in Nursing ( BSN ) or equivalent experience or training. Previous public health experience desired, but not required. Knowledge of epidemiology and community needs assessment. Case management experience preferred. Excellent presentation skills including developing and facilitating education programs. Bilingual in English/Spanish desirable.
