The Role:

We are recruiting a Public Transport Planner for our transport planning business and would like to discuss this exciting opportunity with prospective candidates. Collaborating with consultants from across our business as part of multi-disciplinary teams, you will provide expert planning input to support our clients on the development of innovative bus, transit and rail plans and strategies at local, regional and national scales. The successful candidate will play a leading role on bus and transit route feasibility studies, including scheme identification, scenario scoping, operations costing, demand and revenue forecasting, service planning and business case development, using a variety of standard and innovative techniques and datasets. You will also support the planning and development of new public transport infrastructure, such as priority measures, interchanges, mobility hubs and Park & Ride facilities.

We’re a successful team with a well-balanced blend of skills to face our client needs and are looking for an enthusiastic individual to add further value to our offer to the marketplace. You will have a demonstrable track record and solid technical capability in the planning of public transport strategies, facilities and services. We will consider candidates with location preferences across any of our main offices. We offer flexible working and anticipate candidates will work both from home and their nominated office.

The Candidates:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Public Transport Planner to support our growing transport planning team.  Successful applicants will be flexible, self-motivated and will be expected to demonstrate a capability in many of the following:

  • A relevant transport planning degree.
  • A passion for transportation.
  • Knowledgeable about the current UK transport policy context, UK public transport operations and regulatory frameworks, including differences between the four home nations and London.
  • Ideally, membership of a relevant professional institute.
  • Excellent communication with strong report writing capability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and proven success in meeting deadlines.
  • Confident team worker with ability to work independently.
  • Experience of working to time and budget constraints.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate technical skills and competencies such as:

  • Good project and people management skills.
  • Experience in business development and work winning.
  • A track record in delivering transport planning projects.
  • An understanding of scheme appraisal and business case development.
