Job Specification: QA Tester

Position: QA Test Automation Developer

Location: Hybrid

Job Description:

The QA / Test Automation Developer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software solutions by implementing automated testing within the project's delivery lifecycle. This role requires an excellent understanding of quality assurance, testing methodologies, and automation practices, particularly within Azure DevOps and CICD pipelines.

Responsibilities:

  1. Implementing Test Activities: Execute all test activities in alignment with Core Defra and Programme test strategies, policies, and established patterns.
  2. Acceptance Criteria: Collaborate with the product team to define clear acceptance criteria and testable outcomes for software features.
  3. Automation Frameworks: Develop and implement automation test frameworks to streamline the testing process.
  4. Test Script Development: Create, maintain, and execute test scripts, with a primary focus on automation, to validate software functionality.
  5. Exploratory Testing: Conduct exploratory testing activities when automation is not feasible, and provide exceptional insights.
  6. Script Review: Review and validate test scripts produced by the development team, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness.
  7. Documentation: Thoroughly document all QA and testing processes for reference and future improvement.
  8. Test Metrics: Collect and analyze test metrics, generating comprehensive test reports to communicate progress to stakeholders.
  9. Defect Management: Identify, document, and manage defects within the sprint iterations, ensuring timely resolution.
  10. Problem Investigation: Investigate and diagnose problems in the software implementation following test failures, collaborating with the development team.
  11. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive quality improvements and resolve issues.
  12. Test Closure Reports: Prepare and present test closure reports to support successful software releases to production.
  13. Feedback and Suggestions: Provide valuable feedback and suggestions to project, product, and stakeholder teams to enhance software quality and performance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in automated testing and QA methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Azure DevOps and CICD pipelines.
  • Strong programming skills, with a focus on automation scripting.
  • Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within agile development environments.
