RESIDENTIAL CHILDCARE WORKER (RCP)
Lockerbie
Full Time, Permanent (40 hours)
31,500 - 34,000

About the role:
You will be part of an amazing team who will drive and work with Care Practitioners to encourage positive practice and also you will have the opportunity to shape the practice of the Service.

This client provides a positive and inclusive environment for young people and believe it's the little things that make an difference. Their primary aim is to create an environment of constant warmth, predictability, and responsiveness to need, with the opportunity for young people to experience new models of adult/child and peer group relationships. They believe that, in these new relationships, young people can experience conflict with positive rather than negative resolutions.

Shift Pattern and Rota:
We have an amazing client who is currently looking for permanent, full-time (40 hours) RCP.
Within this role you will be working 14-hour shifts always followed by a sleepover on a pattern of 2 days on & 3 days off.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to the assessment process for young people and be involved with on-going support programmes in conjunction with other key employees
  • Ensure positive support to children and young people when they are concerned or distressed
  • Attend planning and review meetings where appropriate
  • Make sure relevant reports are kept in addition to appropriate record keeping information collection and exchange
  • Implement de-escalation and physical intervention strategies as necessary and appropriate in line with mandatory training
  • Promote young people's participation, to ensuring young people are actively involved in the environment and day to day activities of the home
  • To comply with the code of conduct as require by the SSSC
  • To be fully aware of safeguarding and child protection issues
  • To understand the reporting process of child protection within the home
  • Understand the principals of safeguarding young people, staff, and self
  • Have a full understanding of the emergency call out procedures of the house
  • Promote structure, boundaries, and domestic routines within the house
  • Participate in, and complete records for statutory reviews and meetings concerning the young people were required
  • Undertake relevant training programmes as required by the Company, SSSC & National Care

The Ideal Applicant:

  • SVQ 3 & HNC in Social Care or willing to work towards
  • Appropriate Registration with the SSSC must be completed within 4-6 months of start commencing in the post, if you are not already registered and must be renewed annually
  • PVG must be supplied
  • Experience of working within services of young people, at least 1 year
  • Wide knowledge of the behaviours displayed by children and young people and an understanding of a myriad of intervention strategies
  • Awareness of legislation in relation to childcare including Health and Social Care standards 2018
  • Understanding the principles of safeguarding and child protection
  • Promote the health, safety and well-being of children, young people, and staff
  • Ability to work shifts including evening and weekends
  • Full UK driving licence
