Company Description

Catch22  exists to help build a society where everyone has a good place to live, good people around them, and a fulfilling purpose - we call these our '3Ps '. We achieve this in two ways. Firstly, we improve lives on the frontline through delivery of public services. Secondly, we use our knowledge to change 'the system', to fix the complex web that can trap and disempower those it was set up to help. With the heart of a charity, and the mind-set of a business, we are uniquely placed to deliver on this challenging agenda.

Catch22 College

Our Catch22 College  is the collective name for 10+ sites we have across the country delivering academic and vocational training programmes for young people aged 16+ who, for whatever reason, are not suited to a mainstream college setting.

Our Nottingham College site provides learners with a highly supportive environment, where they have access to opportunities to build up their confidence and self belief, and to gain new skills and experiences, that will help them to achieve their goals in life. We exist to help our learners find their future.

Job Description

The role of Recruitment and Progression Officer is an excellent opportunity to lead learner recruitment, developing strong links with local (sometimes national) employers, and working closely with colleagues to ensure that learners receive the support that they need to succeed. This role will have responsibility for duties across the Nottingham College site, and will include sourcing work placements and employment opportunities across the local areas

Main Duties and Accountabilities

Recruiting learners onto the Study Programme:

  • Engaging with Local Authorities, NEET teams, schools, colleges, and referring agencies, to forge links and recruit learners - responsible for recruiting the target number of learners, for all vocational-based programmes.
  • As the first point of contact for the learner, successfully recruiting them on to the programme - completing initial interviews, ensuring all eligibility checks are completed, and uploading enrolment forms.

Supporting learners through their programme:

  • Conducting regular 1-2-1 progress reviews with the learners, identifying career progression and work placement choices, and carrying out home visits when necessary to maintain attendance.
  • Liaising with teaching staff and attending weekly meetings with the lead tutor to discuss progress, creating a bespoke learner journey - including completing Individual Learner Plans (ILPs).
  • Networking with other agencies, parents, and carers involved in supporting individual learners.

Supporting learners on their work experience placements:

  • Matching and preparing learners for placements, and supporting learners throughout each placement with regular check-in sessions and site visits (for progress review).
  • Supporting the placement providers – helping them to understand the role that they need to play in supporting each student’s development whilst on their placement.

Contributing to the overall success of the Catch22 College:

  • Sharing our vision and values, helping us to create a culture of trust and respect between all staff and all learners - where learners are treated as young adults who need some support to prepare for independence, and for the world of work.
  • The Catch22 College team is small, but aspires to be the best - be flexible and ready to get stuck in! We work collaboratively and flexibly, sometimes covering each other, or going the extra mile, to have the best possible impact for our learners.
