Job Description

  • Will be required to take charge of the Unit and procedure room in the absence of the member of staff who has continuing responsibility after training has been given.

  • Take personal responsibility for the care of patients in a defined clinical area with the support of junior staff.

  • Responsible for assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of Patient Care Plans.

  • Take personal responsibility for ensuring Trust Policies and Procedures are known and followed.

  • Ensure the safe custody of patients valuables and property.

  • Ensure that patients and carers are treated with courtesy at all times and the individual needs of the patient are respected.

  • Ensure the most effective and economical use of supplies and equipment.

  • Take personal responsibility or keeping up-to-date with new developments and professional growth and participate in research where appropriate.

  • Promote and participate in Health Education, both personally and with patients and relatives, as appropriate.

Demonstrate nursing skills and supervise new staff, learner nurses and Health Care Assistants.



Requirements
Registered nurse with current registration and experience of working within an Endoscopy environment Previous NHS experience - pre or post registration General knowledge of GI diseases, endoscopic and related interventions. Leadership skills. Good communication / interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, and professional colleagues Ability to work within a team Basic IT skills and willing to use the Trust Information Systems Good organisational skills
