Full Job Description

Where you’ll fit in & what our team goals are…

Your role is to provide support on regulatory developments to the business as part of the advisory team whilst working closely with the Programme Director responsible for implementation.

How you'll spend your time...


Advice:

  • Liaise with the Compliance team and the wider GCO to ensure jurisdictional changes are identified, assessed, and communicated appropriately.

  • Maintain regulatory change sections of the intranet as a means of disseminating information.

  • Provide advice to the business on how regulatory measures will affect the business in the future.


Regulatory Analysis:

  • Periodic review of the Columbia Threadneedle EMEA Regulatory Change Framework.

  • Complete the initial assessment of any regulatory development coming down the line to make an assessment if it affects the organisation and seek views from interested parties to substantiate this assessment.

  • Liaise with Columbia Threadneedle America on SEC regulation that may need to be interpreted and assessed for its impacts on the EMEA business.


Regulatory Training:

  • Assess the impact that EU regulatory change may have on the US businesses and liaise / report and provide training to them where necessary.

  • Attend trade association forums, provide training where necessary, and disseminate information to those who need to know it.


Projects Participation:

  • Actively participate in the regulatory change process by providing reports, updates and technical input to both individual projects and the Regulatory Change Steering Committee.

  • To ensure the compliance agenda is served in a timely manner, and produce the necessary Ml to keep the BMC/RCC informed to facilitate decision making.

  • To help coordinate and supervise the activities of the various subject matter experts in the GCO.


Tracking Regulatory Change:

  • Track the development of regulatory change through the consultation/discussion paper stages pre-implementation.

  • Track reinterpretations of existing implemented regulation, specifically in the UK.

  • Track jurisdictional changes made to national rules that affect the organisation through an Analysis Tracker spread sheet.

  • Centrally track, and follow up on, our status against regulatory change measures to be implemented.


Reporting:

  • Maintain a monthly regulatory developments report to inform the RCC and BMC.

To be successful in this role you will have...

You should have knowledge of UK and European (APAC and US knowledge ideal) financial services regulation including the UK and EU policymaking process gained by working in either a compliance function or relevant second line function and have broad knowledge of regulatory risks in especially in the context of regulatory change/development agenda.

Due to the nature of this role, the candidate should have:

  • the ability to work on own initiative and work relatively unsupervised

  • analytical and interpretation skills on large volumes of data 

  • drafting skills, attention to detail when drafting quality outputs and the ability to accurately and synthesise vast volumes of written information

  • organisational skills, ability to deliver results in advance of strict deadlines, balancing ongoing role requirements with ad-hoc initiatives

  • communication skills, be a strong team player and be able to relate to individuals at all levels across the business

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite
