Location: Sydenham

Department: Rehab and Wellbeing

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (days tbc, availability to include a Thursday is preferred but some flexibility can be offered)

Tenure: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for a Rehabilitation Assistant to join our dynamic Rehab and Wellbeing team. Working as part of the interdisciplinary team, you will be mainly responsible for assisting the Wellbeing element of the service in providing holistic, person centred, rehabilitative support. The role will involve working with and supporting people and their families in the delivery of our Wellbeing programme providing either individual care, group and therapeutic holistic support, some of our patient cohort have complex communication needs. You will also be responsible for completing administrative and clerical tasks, with speed and accuracy. As part of the cohort of Rehabilitation Assistants you will have the ability to support other elements of the service as necessary.

To succeed in this role

You will understand and promote rehabilitative palliative care and are genuinely interested in empowering patients to achieve or participate in what matters most for them. You will be comfortable working with volunteers. You will have a positive can-do attitude, excellent communication skills, and the empathy, compassion and openness to be alongside people with a life limiting illness. Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be skilled at managing stressful situations in a professional manner, and be able to demonstrate resilience to working with those facing loss and bereavement.
