Full Job Description

The European Tour group is one of the world’s pre-eminent golf organisations. We are responsible for running the world-famous DP World Tour, Legends Tour, Challenge Tour and the newly created G4D Tour (golf for the disabled). We also organise, alongside the PGA of America, golf’s greatest team contest - the Ryder Cup.

About the role:

We are looking for Runners to support the Championship Management Team on the successful delivery of the Betfred British Masters. This is a really great opportunity to learn more about working at a sporting event.  

Make no mistake – it’s really hard work, the days are long and you have to be able to turn your hand to whatever is required with a smile on your face. But you will be working with a great team and experience the camaraderie and satisfaction that comes from delivering a world-famous golf championship.

  • We are looking for people between the dates of 2nd September – 19th September 2024
  • Location: Royal County Down, Northern Ireland– you will need to be local to the area as there is no travel or accommodation provided
  • Weekly Pay - via Hays as our outsourced provider
  • Use of golf buggies at European Tour Group events - all drivers must be over the age of 18 and have a valid DVLA or equivalent driving license.

PLEASE NOTE:

During event week runners work an early / late shift pattern.  Times are yet to be confirmed but an example would be:

Hours of Work during Event week:

  • Early shift – Ranges between 05.00 and 07.00 start.
  • Late shift – Ranges between 06.00 and 09.00 start.
  • Outside of event week the hours would be approx. 08:00 – 18:00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting exhibitors with transportation of stock during exhibition set up
  • Checking caddie bibs and player locker name plates against a list
  • Helping to pack giftbags for Pro-Am and Sponsor Day
  • Setting up Championship Village with garden furniture / benches / umbrellas as well as offices with furniture, maps, information packs, stationery, signage etc
  • Setting up Hospitality, Media, Player and Caddie Lounge and Green Rooms for the bands with furniture within tent structures and cabins
  • Setting up of portaloos out on course, as necessary to include signage
  • Distributing items across site to include furniture, fridges, fire extinguishers and other heavy items
  • Assisting with on course water bin distribution and collection
  • Setting up barriers and heras fencing around site and putting on covers where required
  • Setting up buggy parking area, labelling buggies and ensuring buggies are parked up and charged overnight
  • Pulling up plastic from flooring in structures where required

The Ideal candidate:

  • Must be reliable
  • Basic mathematics skills
  • A valid DVLA or equivalent driving license (drivers must be over the age of 18).
  • Experience of golf and professional golf tournaments is preferred but not essential.
  • Happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
