Rural Housing Enabler - Part Time 21 Hours - £26,000 - Colchester

We are currently seeking a part-time Rural Housing Enabler (21 hours per week) to join Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE) based near Colchester on a 12-month fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and experienced housing professional, or newly qualified graduate looking to make a difference to individuals in need and who are susceptible to isolation during a time where support and inclusion is needed more than ever. As the Rural Housing Enabler, you will be working with all key stakeholders, offering advice, support, and identifying solutions for communities to deliver locally affordable housing, across Essex. The successful candidate will ideally be based in Essex, commutable distance to the Feering, Colchester area with travel to rural parishes within Essex.

The successful Rural Housing Enabler will be responsible for:

* Engaging and working in partnership with communities / community leaders, parish councils, district and county authorities, landowners, developers, housing organisations, agents, planners, and other partners to bring forward rural affordable housing projects across Essex.

* Working in conjunction with other members of the Rural Community Council of Essex team to deliver affordable housing locally – through rural exception sites, community led housing initiatives, Section 106 provision, neighbourhood development plans.

* Working with the Senior Rural Housing Enabler and Community Led Housing Manager in the delivery of rural affordable housing.

The ideal Rural Housing Enabler will have:

* At least two years working in housing; development or relationship management, community development or similar areas of work, or be a newly qualified person looking to begin their career in housing.

* A level 3 qualification or above ideally a degree in a relevant subject; housing, planning, geography, community development or equivalent demonstrable qualification and work experience (extensive experience will allow consideration).

* Experience working with local authorities, parish councils, housing associations and similar organisations.

* Experience in community development and engagement.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to present to a range of audiences is essential.

* Driving licence and or access to private means of transport.

Desirable:

* Post graduate degree or certificate in relevant subject: housing, planning, and community development.

* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

In return, the successful Rural Housing Enabler will be offered a salary up to £26,000 (pro rata) plus package.
