Full Job Description

Herbert Smith Freehills is recruiting a Junior Associate (with existing right to work in Singapore) to be based in our Singapore office.

You will work as a core member of the Southeast Asia dispute resolution team, focussing on high-value cross-border disputes and arbitrations throughout and beyond the ASEAN region.  The team is international, multilingual, high-performing and also friendly, including lawyers who are admitted to practice in a variety of jurisdictions including England, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia and the BVI.  Our clients include global and regional investors, multi-national corporations, governments and state-owned entities, whose cases arise in major sectors including international trade and investment, energy, construction, technology, finance, and shareholder, JV and M&A disputes.
 To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Existing right to live and work in Singapore (we will not be able to sponsor an Employment Pass for this role)
  • An excellent academic record
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a private practice environment – this is a role for a newly qualified or junior lawyer
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills
  • Self-motivation, willingness to learn and enthusiasm to challenge yourself
  • Sense of humour and readiness to work collaboratively in a friendly but high-performing team
  • Multi-lingual skills will be an advantage but are not a requirement
