Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity in the SE Asia Business Development Team. As part of the team, you will play a hands-on role in contributing to the firm’s success and helping to achieve its objectives. This could be as one of our business development professionals, coaching partners on relationship building, or building our brand as one of our marketing, design or events professionals.

We are looking for someone who can provide high quality BD assistance to the Singapore office and wider Southeast Asian practice, working in conjunction with the BD team in Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
The successful candidate will work closely with the rest of the BD team in Singapore to provide sophisticated and proactive cross-practice assistance but will also have a particular focus on the energy & infrastructure group. Internationally, the role is expected to forge solid relationships with sector and regional peers.

The role will involve:

Business planning and implementation:
  • Assist the partners and BD Manager, Southeast Asia in the formulation and implementation of business development plans.
  • Help embed a cross-practice, client-oriented approach to new business, working in conjunction with relevant members of the global BD team and other key stakeholders
  • Help drive firm-wide or regional BD initiatives within the Southeast Asia practice as appropriate
Pitches, proposals and tender submissions:
  • Assist in the preparation of pitches and proposals, working with partners and legal teams on pitch strategy and approach
  • Help develop strong key selling messages
  • To be deployed consistently in pitches and submissions
  • Monitor the updating and maintaining of pitch support material for practice groups, including credentials, pitch templates and CVs
Client development:
  • Keep abreast of client issues to enable proactive identification of business opportunities
  • Working with the Senior BDM, Southeast Asia Clients
It is expected that the BD Executive will also:
  • Effectively advocate the aims of the firm's business development agenda, assisting partners, lawyers and team members in maintaining an awareness of these aims and guiding their implementation
  • Contribute to the continuing development of the regional and international business development teams
  • Maintain an overview of the developments taking place within the firm, with clients and the external market and communicate those developments to partners, lawyers and other team members
  • Appropriate undergraduate/postgraduate degree qualification(s)
  • At least three years' experience working in a BD role in a law firm or other professional services environment
  • Be business fluent, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be an effective team-player & have highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Be tenacious, with the energy and passion to drive new business initiatives, influence partners and analyse and deliver results
  • Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to assimilate information quickly and handle multiple priorities under pressure or within tight timescales
  • Knowledge of client management and related systems useful
  • Be committed to a process of continual improvement
