This is an exciting opportunity to join TDX as we continue our transformation to Google Cloud. This role offers the opportunity to work with public and private sector clients, partner with Google to evolve our software, daily interaction with colleagues across the business including operations, analysts and technology and work on leading technologies.
As well as helping to maintain and improve our existing capabilities (which are primarily Microsoft based - MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS), we are looking for someone to help drive and shape best practices around how we manage and use our data and partner with our MS SQL Server DBA Team Lead. As our transformation gathers pace we need skilled individuals like you to help us migrate to the cloud, moving and re-shaping our data as we go.
Training opportunities will be provided via Coursera as well as the chance to partner and learn from others. You will also be actively encouraged and sponsored to become Google certified!

What you’ll do
Balance good practice, maintainability, company goals, regulatory requirements, security and user needs into solutions
Maintaining the day-to-day availability of all database servers
Responsible for implementing and maintaining a strong approach to system monitoring
Experience in managing high performance and availability of the databases that support critical business systems in a 24/7 environment
You will manage the databases through the entire product lifecycle including design, development, testing and deployment and also run / maintenance tasks (backups, incident management, managing performance etc).
Work independently to implement medium-large solutions.
Identify and the implement automatable activities in order to improve efficiency and makes recommendations on other areas for improvement
Define and enhance quality assurance and quality control processes to reduce the number of production incidents
Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
MS SQL Server DBA skills; working with SQL20016 to SQL2019
Administering and configuring SQL Server for optimal use
SQL Maintenance: Backups/Integrity checks/Index Maintenance
Using Monitoring tools/Working with SQL Server error logs
Experience of TDE and TLS
SQL Replication
Upgrading/patching SQL Server
Experience in complex T-SQL Code
Documentation of processes
Junior to mid DBA currently
Experience of database development in a large complex environment
Strong data modeling and design skills, performance tuning of MS SQL Server databases
Be available for the on call rota
Active Cloud Certification strongly preferred
Experience of databases in cloud, especially on Google Platform - e.g. Cloud SQL, Big Query
Migration of SQL Databases from Data Centers to Cloud Platforms
Working with clients and security teams on yearly security audits
Working on large databases that are multiple terabytes in size
Understanding of MS SQL Server BI toolset - SSAS (OLAP Cubes), SSIS, SSRS
GITHub and Jenkins experience
Good understanding of agile methodologies
