School Librarian | Croydon

We are currently working with a fantastic school in Croydon to recruit for a Librarian to manage, maintain and, develop the schools Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

The successful candidate will need to be passionate, creative and forward thinking with an idea to encourage full use by staff and pupils in teaching and learning and in reading for pleasure.

School Librarian summary:

• Organising, managing and promoting of the library service to encourage full use by both staff and pupils by planning and delivering a range of library-based activities.
• Maintaining an awareness of books currently being published for young people and use this knowledge in the promotion of reading for pleasure within school.
• Supervising the School Library, including administration, security and control of pupil behaviour.
• Participating in School Librarian networking group meetings to enhance CPD.

 School Librarian requirements:

• A strong degree in an appropriate subject or relevant professional experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience of working with younger people
• Knowledge and understanding of library and information skills
• IT literate
