Full Job Description

Seamstress/Embroiderer

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Seamstress/Embroiderer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in both sewing and embroidery. However, we will train in embroidery as needed. As a Seamstress/Embroiderer, you will execute various sewing and embroidery techniques to produce custom-made Emergency Services Uniforms according to client specifications and requirements. 

Essential Job Functions:

Roles and Responsibilities

Sewing :

o Operate sewing machines and hand tools to sew, repair, alter & letter Emergency Services Uniforms.

o Interpret patterns, blueprints, or design specifications to ensure accurate construction.

o Measure and adjust garment components for proper fit and alignment.

o Perform adjustments as needed.


Embroidery:

o On-the-job training provided on our state-of-the-art embroidery machines

o Set up and operate embroidery machines to embroider designs, patterns, or logos onto fabric or garments.

o Digitize designs using specialized software, if required.

o Select appropriate threads, needles, and stabilizers for each project.

o Monitor machine operation to ensure quality and consistency of embroidery.


Quality Control:

o Inspect finished products for flaws, errors, or irregularities in stitching, embroidery, or construction.

o Make necessary adjustments or repairs to meet quality standards.

o Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and equipment.


Requirements

Required Qualifications  

  • Proven experience as a Seamstress/Seamster (Tailor) or in a related sewing role.
  • Proficiency in various sewing techniques, cutting, stitching, and alterations.
  • Knowledge of different types of fabrics and their properties.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • An understanding of safety protocols and practices when working with sewing equipment.
  • A wide range of familiarity with different types of designs and uses of tools and machines
  • Substantial knowledge of different types of sewing machines such as single needle, double needle, blind stitch, and merrow machines
  • Skilled in feeding a thread through machine guides
  • Vast knowledge of different fabrics
  • Ability to pick the correct tool or equipment needed to do a job 
  • Know how to adjust machine functions depending on the type of fabric being used
  • Experience in selecting the proper thread to use for certain types of materials
  • Competency in applying pins and markings to the fabric for different types of designs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the tailoring industry
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Physical Requirements
