Senior Accountant

G2 Recruitment are working alongside our client to hire a Senior Accountant on a permanent basis.

Salary: 50,513.00

Hours: Full time role

Working Pattern (Flexible Hours/Remote): Hybrid working in SW England, ideally 2-3 days per week but may change dependent on the needs of the service.

Job Details:

This role will assist the Council's Section 151 Officer and the Chief Accountant in providing strong and effective corporate and operational financial management for the Council.

Required Skills / Experience -

• A relevant professional qualification (CCAB qualified)
• Significant post qualification experience in the public sector
• Proven experience in financial reporting
• Detailed and working knowledge of key Local Government funding and finance streams (e.g. Council Tax, Business Rates, Capital Financing)
• Experience with Agresso Business World

Responsibilities -

• Assist with the development of business cases in accordance with the Council's Project Management Framework providing robust financial advice and support, and acting as a critical friend on projects
• Support the Section 151 Officer and the Chief Accountant with the preparation of the annual budget and Medium-Term Financial Strategy
• Accounts closure and production, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, the CIPFA code and other external reporting requirement.
