This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Property Claims Handler to join our team in Bromley on a full time, permanent basis.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Commercial Claims Team Leader, you'll handle all Commercial losses of a defined large and technical/complex nature. This functionality will be "cradle to grave" claims handling, working together with supply chain to deliver claims costs and excellent customer service. As a senior, you'll also be required to mentor others, take daily referrals, conduct audits and authorise cheques.

  • Triage of new technical and large claims, including Property, Subsidence, Environmental, Liability Claims, Injury and Motor

  • End-to-end claims handling of retained technical claims

  • Identify and manage potential fraudulent claims

  • Investigate, negotiate indemnity and liability & identify potential recovery opportunities

  • Contribute to the development of large loss claims handling strategy

  • Support technical development in other claims handling areas by way of case clinic activity, audit, and sharing of technical/legal knowledge and developments

  • Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to my role, following the Direct Line Group risk framework

  • Robust control of Indemnity Spend/Reserving through claims handling

  • Manage Customer and Third-party expectations throughout the life-cycle of the claim

  • Maximise revenue generation/cost control/recovery opportunities to negotiate the optimum claim settlement

  • Follow regulatory timescales and guidelines

  • Technical mentor/referral point for policy and capability development

  • Personal development to ensure retention of area as a centre of excellence

  • Keep the customer experience at the heart of everything we do, ensuring adherence to the principles of Treating the Customer Fairly

  • Achieve all business targets as set out within departmental measures

What we're looking for
  • Previous claims handling experience within Commercial is necessary, including initiation, investigation, negotiation and settlement, and claims quantum and assessment

  • Knowledge of Fraud and Investigation

  • Aware of Insurance Principles and Practice

  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills

  • Ability to work to deadlines and agreed service level agreements

  • Experience mentoring others

Hours: 35 hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

Location: Bromley - Churchill Court

Hybrid Working: We have a hybrid model with a virtual-first approach which means you would work from home and be in the office two days a week.
