Do you want to shape the future of policy making across the FCA’s retail market work?

The team/department

The Consumer Policy and Outcomes Department is recruiting for an exciting role in the Consumer Duty Policy Team.

The team leads the FCA’s policy work using the Consumer Duty, which is a flagship policy intervention putting consumers at the heart of what the FCA does in retail markets. The team works in partnership with others across the organisation to support the application of the Duty in every aspect of what the FCA does in retail markets. The team plays a key role in driving the FCA’s external communications to industry, consumer groups and other stakeholders on the Duty.

The team is part of the Cross-Cutting Policy and Strategy directorate, which is responsible for the FCA’s cross-cutting policy initiatives. The directorate’s goal is to maintain a regulatory framework that sets clear standards we expect of all firms and individuals in UK financial services, to prevent harm to consumers or markets.

What you will be doing

  • You will be a subject matter expert for the Consumer Duty, applying your knowledge to a range of high-priority policy issues to drive good consumer outcomes using the Consumer Duty

  • You will proactively track a portfolio of policy work across a sector of the UK’s financial market, providing expert input and challenge to ongoing and arising policy in that sector

  • You will be driving policy deliverables that can apply across the entire UK financial market that will ensure the success of the Consumer Duty in its stated objectives to drive better outcomes for consumers, a flexible regulatory landscape for firms, and effective and efficient FCA policy making

  • You will take responsibility for engaging with stakeholders to support your work and the work of others, gaining and disseminating insights on the Consumer Duty

  • You will be creating and feeding into innovative ways to create networks across the FCA to support sharing of best practice and policy excellence

What will you get from the role?

This is an exciting opportunity to lead work on a high profile and powerful regulatory intervention for UK consumers and make a difference. You will get a unique insight into work across the FCA on a range of policy initiatives and the opportunity to build and develop relationships across the organisation. You will use and develop a range of collaboration and influencing techniques to partner with teams across the organisation, and drive forward your own initiatives to help the organisation.

Your work will be high-profile, intellectually stimulating, challenging, and supported by a friendly and welcoming team of Consumer Duty experts working together to achieve team successes.

Our competitive flexible benefits scheme gives you the opportunity to create a personalised benefits package, tailored to suit your lifecycle. You can use this allowance to purchase additional benefits such as dental or cycle to work or you have the option top up your base salary by taking this as cash.  Core benefits that you will receive as standard are:

  • 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
