Full Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer with at least 5 years post graduate experience.

The successful candidate will join a small dedicated team at Resolute Photonics in Scotland and be required to work closely with European and UK collaboration partners on at least four research projects. These will cover advanced photonics, quantum technologies for future hyperscale data centres and high performance computer environments, advanced AI assisted sensors for gas.

Based in our office near Glasgow, and with some flexibility for hybrid working, the candidate will be responsible for the design and development of high-speed electronic hardware and sub-systems, incorporating advanced photonic and quantum technologies developed by our international partners.


Responsibilities

·      Designing and developing electronic hardware solutions with high speed interfaces.

·      Design for CPU and FPGA hardware.

·      Collaborating with world-leading partners to incorporate advanced photonic and quantum solutions

·      Design with high speed transceivers and peripherals operating at multi-gigabit per second rates.

·      Multilayer PCB designs for complex high-speed digital systems.

·      A requirement to work effectively with partners, and team members with little supervision

·      A strong ability to solve problems and develop new approaches in a research environment


Essential Experience

·      A solid background in high speed hardware design.

·      Design of PCIE, InfiniBand, DDR4, etc or similar to Gigabit data rates.

·      Design of SM power systems, cooling and support electronics for rack level sub-systems

·   Use of CAD tools such as Altium or similar

·      Schematic capture and design of PCB layouts

·      Knowledge of board fabrication, assembly and test.

·      Electronic lab work and board bring up.

Desired Experience

·  Modelling and simulating signal integrity

·      Knowledge of optics and photonics useful, but not essential.

·      Some knowledge of embedded software C/C++.

·      Knowledge of FPGA or programmable logic useful, but not essential.


Qualifications

·      Minimum of Bachelors degree in electronic/electrical engineering or related discipline
