Mather & Co are looking for an ambitious Senior 3D Museum Designer to join our creative team in Wilmslow – a designer who is passionate about what we do, and wants to create inspiring spaces within museums, visitor attractions, sports and the heritage sector.

We are seeking someone with at least 5 years’ experience working in museum exhibition design, who can take a project from early thoughts to on-site delivery. We want you to be fully engaged in each stage of the design process - taking ownership of your creative approach and looking after the project all the way through from concept to completion.

Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working both individually and collaboratively with the Design Directors, and studio team to progress projects from inception to completion.

  • Working with the team from issue of a brief to generate creative concepts for new and on-going projects as well as tenders/pitches for new business.

  • Producing and delivering presentations for clients and contractors.

  • Direct client experience, leading projects with agency and clear communication.

  • Creation of design that understands collections and content through interpretive planning and creative storytelling.

  • Design visualisation skills.

  • Undertaking co-ordination on projects with the wider design and client team, for example architects, access consultants, curators, film & media consultants, lighting design, contractors, and installation teams.

  • Producing accurate and comprehensive technical drawings, compiling project samples, managing schedules, and specifying products, materials, and finishes.

  • Carrying out tasks relating to CDM 2015 regulations and requirements.

  • Attending site visits (including during project installation), contractor/workshop quality control visits, meetings and client presentations as required. Regular travel within the UK and sometimes abroad should be expected.

Due to the collaborative nature of our work, your presence working in the studio is essential.

  • Ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions and to communicate those quickly and effectively.

  • Strong IT skills and working knowledge of design software including SketchUp Pro, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud suite and Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Teams.

  • Strong and clear presentation and communication skills.

  • Experience in creating and managing technical drawings and related information for all stages of a project.
