Senior Legal Advisor – Corporate/ General

Angel Court, London (or able to travel to London)

Hybrid Working Options

Full time (35hrs pw)

Working in our Group function you’ll play a key part in helping our customer facing colleagues deliver exceptional standards of customer service and patient care not just in the UK but around the globe. 

The Senior Legal Advisor will be part of the Group legal team accountable for providing legal advice to underpin delivery of Bupa’s business strategy and purpose. The Group team:

  • Maintains the legal risk management framework and governance at enterprise level
  • Partners other functional team (known as Bupa’s “global functions”), enabling achievement of their objectives and accountabilities
  • Partners with Bupa’s global legal community to deliver the objectives of Bupa’s global Legal function, in support of Bupa’s strategic framework

You’ll help us make health happen by:

  • Managed relationships with senior stakeholders, with the ability to syndicate ideas, build consensus and keep stakeholders informed
  • Worked in matrix roles with a high degree of cross-functional dependency, particularly interaction on regulatory compliance and reputational risk issues
  • Experience of creating and implementing policies and procedures in a global context, and creating and maintain reporting and governance frameworks to support and coordinate business-level inputs
  • Good experience of advising on matters and transactions with a strong international dimension to them, for example, cross border M&A transactions
  • Broad company and commercial experience including experience in one or more of corporate, commercial contracting, disputes, brand protection or regulatory experience

Key Skills needed for this role:

  • Providing professional, strategic and operational legal advice and assistance to manage and mitigate legal risks;
  • Developing and implementing policies and processes, in order to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks;
  • Working with the global functions to ensure a positive legal risk and governance culture is enabled and embedded;
  • Working alongside other members of the wider businesses and legal team to assess, evaluate and undertake potential business development activities e.g. strategic partnerships, transactions and complex commercial contracting structures;
  • Providing an escalation point for complex technical queries and ensuring their effective and commercially sound resolution
