Full Job Description

A Battery Manufacturing Company are currently on the lookout for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with Battery experience to help on an initial 2 month contract (become a further 6 month contract after this) Outside IR35 working fully remote.

The project is due to start on 1st May 2024, so needs someone who can interview asap and start on that date.

The Company

A start up Battery Manufacturing consultancy who works with multiple end clients including Automotive OEMs, Electric Vehicle Manufacturers, and Battery clients.

They pride themselves to be market experts with Battery Cell design and development, so having a team of engineers who can hit the ground running and have an eye for detail is required.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

The main part of the project is to work on the design and development of Pouch Cell Battery Packs for Electric Vehicle, therefore having previous experience with this is necessary. Other skillset needed include CAD Design experience (having own license is ideal) and experience with enclosure design of UPS Battery Containers for EVs.

Skills overview:

  • Mechanical Resource Allocation (Defining test parameters, Developing test set ups, fixtures and procedures, overseeing test execution)
  • Test Development and Execution (pressure degradation, pouch rupture, cell width tolerance)
  • Design test setups and procedures to assess the risk of pouch rupture in cells
  • Execute tests to validate the durability of pouch cells
  • Documentation of test parameters, setups, fixtures, and procedures
  • Test reports detailing findings, observations, and conclusions from conducted tests
