The role

Working as a Senior Network and Security Engineer within our MSS team, you will use your expertise to assist Nettitude in becoming a renowned market leading managed provider of managed security and support services.

You will be a self-driven person; able to work well individually and part of the strong MSS team.  You are an analytical thinker with a drive to solve problems, work under pressure and be proactive in challenging situations.

You will be working within a team of highly skilled network and security engineers where you will predominantly support our Network Engineering functions.  You will find yourself taking ownership of our customers’ network issues, understanding, and triaging the problems appropriately.  You will work closely with both the other Network Engineers and Consultants to expedite and resolve all support cases within agreed SLAs.

You will have the opportunity to broaden your skillset by getting involved in projects that maintain and enhance the capability of our services, and ensure we are providing innovative support, detection, and response services to our customers.

You will have experience of working in a large multi-client solution provider with a rapidly expanding customer base.

Location

Nettitude Managed Security Services have a flexible working policy and therefore we can support working from across the UK. There will be a requirement to attend our Birmingham HQ along with other Nettitude and customer locations on occasion. All applicants will require residence in the UK.

What you’ll be doing in your role:

  • Act as a point of contact and own incidents and service requests raised over the phone and support desk ticketing system
  • Log calls with third party vendors (such as Checkpoint or Fortinet) and escalate when necessary
  • Monitoring and maintaining switching infrastructure to agreed service levels
  • Performing Firewall Configuration, troubleshooting and Administration
  • Creating and performing authorised changes to customer network and Infrastructure environments, attending CABs where necessary
  • Carry out root cause analysis on reoccurring incidents; raising problems as necessary
  • Ensure technical documentation is completed and updated to professional standards
  • Assist with internal projects and contribute to the continuous MSS improvement
  • Assist with new customer on boarding & acceptance into service into operational support for all new implementations and enhancements/upgrades
  • Participating in an on-call technical process outside of UK Business hours
  • Keep up to date with the latest security and technology developments
  • Research emerging cyber security threats and how it affects the managed services customer network infrastructures
  • Use advanced analytic and packet capture tools to troubleshoot issues
  • Generate reports for both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders

Key Skills:

The following are the requirements for this role:

  • Strong knowledge with core network technologies in large-scale deployments
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience providing support to enterprise level clients
  • Detailed understanding of networking including IP addressing, subnets, DNS, etc.
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience with LAN & WAN, Routing protocols
  • Demonstrable experience with Firewall administration preferably Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Cisco, and Fortigate
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical troubleshooting skills and ability to use Network analysis tools, (Wireshark, PCAP)
  • Professional to Expert level certifications in core Networking or firewall technology platforms, such as:
    • Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Meraki
    • CheckPoint CCSA, CCSM, CCSE, CCTE
    • Palo Alto PCNSA
  • Experience with F5 Web Application Firewalls
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex, technical, multi-site and multi-disciplinary problems and incidents
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working in a multi-client solutions provider on a support desk environment
  • Experience with Support desk ticket handling within SLAs
  • Excellent communications skills with a positive and proactive attitude towards customer issues
  • Experience of working in a multi-client solutions provider on a support desk environment

Desirable:

  • ITIL qualification or awareness of the ITIL processes
  • Experience with automation using Ansible, Python, etc
