Role description:

We are looking for a Principal Environmental, Social and Governance  Consultant (ESG) Consultant to join our growing Sustainability Advisory business. The successful candidate will work as a core member and leader of our ESG Service Line, focused on helping clients use our expertise in valuable and impactful ways to lead in their sector. You will help us deliver world leading sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. 

You will be actively encouraged to challenge yourself, learn new things, and use your skills wherever they can make an impact across the extent of our Sustainability Advisory and wider business.

Role accountabilities:

  • You will be a core member and leader of our ESG Service Line, focused on helping clients use our expertise in valuable and impactful ways to lead in their sector.
  • Contribute to leading the SA Strategy, growth objectives and delivery capabilities of our ESG Service Line across both regulatory and mandatory frameworks (including but not limited to GRESB, CSRD, TCFD, TNFD, SECR, ISSB, Double Materiality Assessments) and related topics.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of current and upcoming relevant legislation and requirements.
  • Required to develop and win business through engagement with new and existing clients to identify their strategic ESG needs.
  • Lead client engagement and the team to deliver high quality results, on time and on budget.
  • Identify needs that the clients may not recognise and ensuring approaches and solutions are linked to objectives and future needs.
  • Proactively supports business development through generating leads, writing proposals, case studies and capability statements.
  • Supporting the SA Leadership, SA MarComms and the other SA Service Lines to raise our profile in the business and grow our presence in the UK.
  • Line management responsibility for a small number of direct reports in addition to managing staff on projects, including support in setting objectives, conducting career development discussions and supporting development.
  • Prepare ESG content, attending and supporting the SA ESG Service Line at virtual and in person events.
  • Build strong and lasting relationships with colleagues, clients and our wider community.

Qualifications & Experience:

We are looking for someone who is  excited about the opportunity to be part of a high performing team, learning and growing the ESG Service Line

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with a experience specialising in ESG service delivery, preferably within a consultancy environment.
  • Chartered membership of an appropriate Professional body [desirable but not essential]
  • Successful track record of contributing to the growth and development of a ESG consulting delivery team in a sustainability services business.
  • Passionate about sustainability and have proven, relevant experience at a senior level, including helping organisations set strategies across the range of ESG Reporting frameworks.
  • Instrumental in building and managing a commercial ESG Reporting service offering within a professional services environment, focussed on external clients.
  • Proven track record of securing new business from existing and new clients in a strategic way that adds genuine value and impact.
  • Direct line management experience and have ideally led and developed a junior and or mid-level consulting team.
  • Effective project management, client relationship management and commercial skills,
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of current and upcoming relevant legislation and requirements.

Arcadis offer agile working; you will be able to split your time working at home and in the office. Shorter periods of time spent on-site at our client’s offices may be required, and occasional short term international/European travel may also be required. Opportunities may also arise for our staff to immerse themselves in our client’s businesses in part or full-time secondment roles
