ABPmer is a leading UK marine consultancy, creating sustainable solutions for clients in the marine environment. For over 70 years we have managed and contributed to integrated environmental studies across a wide range of industries, including coastal management, ports and navigation, offshore wind and marine renewables, as well as undertaking focused and strategic research for Government and its agencies such as EU policy impact assessments and marine spatial planning.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior/Principal Consultant to join our team of Environment specialists, responsible for managing and advising on a wide range of large-scale marine and coastal projects, including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. 


About You
You are knowledgeable about the UK marine planning and consents regime and have demonstrable project management experience, preferably within a consultancy environment.  

You are a highly organised, collaborative and self-motivated individual, with excellent report writing and engaging presentation skills. You will have a strong commitment to sustainable development in the marine environment. 

Depending on your background, you have skills and experience in:

•    Project management and project delivery 
•   Environmental assessments, including Environmental Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, Water Framework Directive assessments, Marine Conservation Zone assessments and Marine Plan Conformance assessments
•    Coordinating and managing projects through the marine licensing and consenting process
•   Preparation and coordination of the proposal/tendering process
• Business development

You will also have:

•    A degree or postgraduate degree in a marine environmental discipline
•    At least five years’ relevant experience in a consultancy or regulatory background 
•    Experience in staff mentoring and development

Location
Our offices are based at Town Quay in Southampton, with fantastic views overlooking Southampton Water.

We recognise it is not always convenient to work from a central office every weekday, which is why we provide flexible and hybrid working options. However, there will be a requirement to come to our offices regularly, and to visit client sites.
