Senior Project Co Ordinator / Engineer or Manager – Construction Procurement Project Controls (Long-term Contract)


Life Science and Lab/Office Building Fit-Out Experience Required

Duration: Present - Q4, 2027 (approx.)


Role Description:


Reporting to our client’s London Project Lead, as a senior member of a multi-discipline team, responsible for managing detailed design, supporting procurement activities, managing construction execution, C&Q, and final turnover of the project scope for R&D lab and office facility. This candidate will closely collaborate with the project core team and various stakeholders including Suite team, Design partner, Construction team, Safety team, Procurement team, Project controls team, Users team, etc.


Role Functions:


Define and agree upon the physical and procedural scope and scope boundaries with stakeholders and the Project Lead.

Lead the development of project plans and execute them according to established safety, schedule, cost, and performance standards.

Manage project plans for detailed design, construction, commissioning schedule, and cost in collaboration with other core team members, outside contractors, and trade partners.

Lead and manage discussions on scope, budget, schedule, safety, quality, and personnel with the Project Lead.

Develop and implement an execution strategy with other core team members to deliver the project scope.

Coordinate design efforts with FEL partner and ensure compliance with applicable local and global standards.

Track and report progress against project deliverables.

Foster strong relationships between Client Project Team (MRL, GHH & GWES), D&B Contractor (Integrator), Sub Contractors (under D&B), and direct vendors to ensure project delivery.

Ensure a strong safety culture throughout the project execution.

Lead the review of design material from the owner’s side including Layout reviews, P&ID reviews, Functional Descriptions, Specifications, change control processes, and PO’s/Data Sheets.

Facilitate the development of construction, procurement, C&Q, and project control strategies into plans for project execution.

Participate in Value Engineering.

Attend necessary tier meetings and report progress.

Maintain a project-wide clean and safe working environment by enforcing procedures, policies, and regulations.

Role Responsibilities:


Ensure safety of all project team members throughout the project lifecycle.

Clearly define scope and scope boundaries within the Core team.

Manage scope issues as they arise during the project.

Deliver agreed milestones on schedule within budget constraints.

Deliver stakeholder agreed scope to Commissioning and Handover.

Knowledge and Skills:


Demonstrated performance in building and managing multi-functional teams.

Excellent safety record on large projects.

Experience leading projects and cross-functional initiatives.

In-depth understanding of large-scale R&D and office facility projects.

Proven leadership capabilities.

Ability to create a productive and supportive team environment.

Ability to engage and align stakeholders outside the project team.

Ability to understand and communicate risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.

Expertise with project management tools.

Working knowledge of C&Q documentation.

Fluent in English, written and verbal.

Working knowledge of various software tools including CAD, P6, and BIM.

Experience in the operation and maintenance of R&D and office facility is preferred.

Requirements:


Bachelor of Engineering or Science Degree in Engineering or Technology-related discipline.

Minimum of ten years of relevant experience in project management of larger projects, including R&D/office projects.

Working knowledge of UK regulations preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Previous experience in the pharmaceutical sector advantageous.
