Are you an experienced Senior Quantity who is looking for a new role with one of the leading Contractors in the North West?

This is a great opportunity to join an established main contractor who have a healthy pipeline of work for the future. The company work across a variety of sectors on large scale new build and refurbishment projects valued anywhere between 10m - 100m.

The role - Senior Quantity Surveyor

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be heading up a large 50m new build hotel and fit out project in Stockport. You will be reporting into the Commercial Manager and will be responsible for managing and supporting the commercial team with the following duties:

  • Preparation of bills and/or schedules for quantities of materials, labour and services required in the construction and refurbishment of building works in relation to both Estimating and Post contract duties.
  • Cost reporting.
  • Preparation and valuation of progress and submission to client.
  • Sub-contract procurement including sending out enquiries, collating prices, negotiation, order placement.
  • Sub-contract valuations and payments in connection with any contract.
  • Maximise cash flow through timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment.
  • Manage prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts, including variations, claims and disputes.
  • Identify, manage, reduce, and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
  • Monitor and manage subcontract costs to ensure that the project meets and/or exceeds targets.
  • Monitor resources and costs to ensure that the project meets and / or exceeds targets, including but not limited to the scheduling of labour resources.
  • Mentoring of Junior Staff


Required Skills & knowledge

  • A degree/equivalent qualification (HNC/HND).
  • At least 5 years' experience in a SQS position.
  • Have experience working on similar projects.
  • Have a strong Main Contractor background.
