We are excited to be recruiting for an experienced Real-Time 3D artist to join our in house 3D team. Based in Manchester City Center, we provide our team the opportunity to work with global iconic engineering brands, delivering cutting-edge, innovative projects.

We create interactive experiences alongside video products, combining the two for maximum value for our clients. We are looking for an individual who can bridge the gap between these disciplines and help us to deliver top quality projects.

Hidden is currently seeking a Real-Time 3D artist with a background in game engines and optimal 3D pipelines, as well as experience with creating assets for video work. Crucially, what we need is someone who brings the benefit of Real-Time to help us work smarter, not harder.

A passion for emerging technologies and an interest in virtual reality is essential for this role. As is a proven track record of content and asset creation in a real-time environment. We need someone who can lead the real time pipeline and pass on their knowledge to other members of the team.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator, versed in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders, right up to board level. Further, they will thrive in a start-up environment, be an excellent trouble-shooter and be willing to turn a hand to tasks from basic level right through to pipeline development.

We have a flexible approach to remote working, some of the team like to be in the office permanently and some of them just come in for a couple of days a week. We can chat it through, but some presence is required in the Manchester office each week as we find it benefits you, the team and project delivery.

Key responsibilities:

  • Utilising Unreal Engine’s full suite of world building tools to create top quality content for video and interactive projects. As you progress in the role we need you to utilise your experience within Unity’s HDR pipeline.
  • Modelling optimised assets, from hard surface to photorealistic environmental elements.
  • Contributing to the R&D pipeline and maintaining a strong knowledge of the latest tools and processes.
  • Shader and Texture authoring for assets.
  • Setting cameras, blocking, lighting and shooting a scene.
  • Working closely with other artists, designers and programmers to implement the Producer or Creative Director’s vision.
  • Creating convincing Real-Time VFX throughout all stages of the development process, from conception to completion.
  • Maintaining consistently high-quality visuals across a range of effects, from vast environments to small technical objects – and everything in between.
  • Optimising effects to run efficiently whilst maintaining high visual quality.
  • Contributing innovative ideas to help improve your workflow and mentoring less experienced members of staff.

What we require:

  • Minimum 5 years of production experience, including within commercial production pipelines.
  • In depth knowledge of Unreal Engine. An ideal candidate would also be proficient in Unity.
  • Knowledge of shaders and texturing.
  • Experience in basic animation techniques.
  • Proficient in Substance painter and designer.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritise and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proven understanding of Maya in a professional capacity.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to work as a team player, as well as independently.
  • Keen eye for detail as well as the ability to problem solve when needed.
  • Passionate, high energy levels, conveying enthusiasm, and demonstrates a drive to succeed.

Desirable requirements:

  • Knowledge of Blender / Houdini.

At Hidden we offer

  • An open mind to new ideas and new methodologies.
  • A top-notch portfolio and full pipeline of interesting and exciting projects.
  • A company in the immersive space that is growing rapidly and is looking for the best of the best.
  • A friendly, focused and supportive team of high level professionals who pull together to get the projects completed.
  • We offer training to bridge any knowledge gaps you may have within our workflow.

We offer an environment to thrive and grow whilst developing a powerful mix of top quality creative and technical skills to generate highly effective immersive and digital experiences for some of the largest companies in the world.

Benefits

You will receive 24 days of annual leave along with a day off for your birthday and all UK bank holidays. We run a company pension scheme and we invest in a dedicated training budget to accelerate your career progression in the direction you want.

We are committed to flexible working and have adopted a hybrid working system enabling you to work remotely as well as in our Manchester City Centre office when required.

We are a close knit team, with a deep level of appreciation for each other’s needs and requirements. We invest time and resources into our team with their personal development, as well as celebrating our successes and team spirit. We recognise the hard work that goes into the high quality projects we produce and regularly reward our staff to show our appreciation.
