Senior Regulatory Lawyer - Gaming

Remote

Our client, a global listed gaming company (not gambling), are looking to recruit a superstar Senior Regulatory Lawyer.


In this role, you will work closely with the games studios, the legal & compliance team, privacy and competitive intelligence functions to develop and monitor policies and standards applicable to the business and in compliance with the new laws focusing on social games companies.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct global research and monitoring to ensure that the business is aware of, and compliant with, emerging regulatory and legal requirements relevant for the gaming industry.
  • Work with and manage local outside counsels in different countries to seek and implement advice.
  • Monitoring, reviewing and assessing new laws and regulations relating to online safety of digital content such as content and safety in the UK, Australia and EU. Consumer protection laws globally, gaming laws (including Loot Box laws) and competition related measures such as the DMA. and driving the implementation of those laws and codes.
  • Leading on regulatory engagement with diverse legislators, governments and regulators in conjunction with the existing partners such as trade associations.
  • Supporting other in-house lawyers and our product legal team to review new products and features to comply with relevant laws.
  • Closely collaborating and coordinating with regulatory and litigation lawyers, games studios and communications teams on regulatory matters, company’s policy strategies, external communication, and investigations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years EU or UK qualified lawyer, in a regulatory legal compliance role from a well-regarded private practice team or established in-house department; gaming practice is a significant advantage.
  • Background in consumer-facing tech and/or digital media, or a solid understanding of these industries from private practice.
  • Experience advising on laws relating to online and mobile gaming, consumer protection, ecommerce, user generated content, such as Digital Services Act in the EU and Online Safety Act in the UK and more. Experience in global sanctions and trade control practices are an advantage.
