We are a fast-growing London-based FinTech startup.

Our product simplifies the painful business expenses process with a unique software platform and smart company payment card.  We save companies time, hassle and money, which provides them with a new level of expense automation and efficient control over budgets and employee spending.

We are working in a huge sector mainly dominated by big businesses using outdated approaches. It is in massive need of change and we aim to revolutionise the space.

Job Description

The Role

We are looking for motivated, curious, collaborative new team members to help us deliver a game-changing roadmap of features with luxury-level performance and reliability.  We embrace Agile principles and value collaboration both in the Dev team and with the rest of our colleagues across the business.  You’ll get to work with a welcoming, inclusive team of talented Engineers, Product Managers, Marketers, Customer Success and Business Development.

This is a remote role. For UK base team members, we support a flexible home working environment with optional travel into our London co-working space.

Qualifications

Requirements

We are looking for Engineers who have:

  • Effective written and verbal communication in English.

  • Commercial professional experience working at a senior level in Python.

  • Coached and mentored fellow team members on how to write clean, testable, maintainable, scalable and secure code while following best practices.

  • Strong knowledge of databases, including both SQL and NoSQL.

  • Experience building APIs in Python.

  • Experience working on distributed systems (event-driven, microservice, or serverless architectures).

  • Experience writing React, VueJS, Svelte or any other frontend libraries.

  • Experience of Agile Software Development and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads independently.

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS.

Nice to have:

  • Experience using Test-Driven Development (TDD).

  • Experience doing Pair Programming.

  • Experience writing and or maintaining complex third-party API integrations, particularly financial APIs such as Open Banking.

  • Experience writing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Serverless Framework, Pulumi, etc).

  • Experience working with financial data, such as transactions, payments, or ledgers.

  • Cross-functional product development team.

  • Lean / Kanban Agile software development methodology.

  • Integrating into third party systems such as payment systems and Open Banking.

  • We are a global development team located in the UK, Austria, Turkey and South Africa.

Our stack is a Python backend consisting of 30+ Python microservices hosted on AWS ECS with Message Queues (SQS/SNS), AWS Lambdas, AWS Dynamodb and AWS RDS PostgreSQL. Pulumi is used for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).  Our frontends consist of a React, JavaScript web app and a React Native mobile application in the Apple and Google application stores.  

Our development environment is Apple-based, using M1 Macbook Pros.
